Right now, I’ve got eighteen days left here in Germany. While the time since my parents left has been rather quite, I’ve still managed to keep myself busy and in good spirits. Although the scholarship helps, my funds have been tight, so exploring further than the city limits is hard to do. One thing I will miss about this place is how extensive of a bike trail system they have. The one by my building follows the river and goes on for miles in either direction, and links up with other paths that cut through open farm fields. I would take my camera, but running with one is not something I would like to do … sorry. Since today was the Fourth of July, I decided to grab an American meal: steak and fries (as pictured below). Unlike back home, where temperatures usually have reached hair-on-fire levels by now, the weather in Heidelberg is quite pleasant. With the exception of the heat we got last week, it has not gotten above 75 and there is usually a constant breeze. I’ll be missing it when its 95 and humid at Storrs in a few months, forcing me to try to sleep on an air vent for the Chem building (like last year). The sunsets aren’t too bad, either.
